Family Fun for the Fall | Birmingham Bloomfield Hills Moms

There is nothing better than visiting a u-pick apple orchard or cider mill, to give you that perfect fall feeling! Some of the orchards are a bit of a drive away, but be assured that you will go home with bags of apples and goodies that will last you weeks (at least we do!).

Here are some great places to visit in the fall:

Erwin Orchard Inc.

I grew up going apple picking at Erwin Orchards every fall with my family. It still has a special place in my heart! Be warned, they only accept cash/check (ATM on site).

*U-pick currently includes:

They also have a cider mill with fresh cider, donuts, applesauce, and other goodies! They offer wagon rides, Farmer Bill’s target paintball, a 3-D walk through adventure, a corn maze, a goat walk, hay and straw bale maze, a sunflower garden, and a petting farm (weekends only).

Franklin Cider Mill:

7450 Franklin Road, Franklin

248-626-8261

Weekdays: 7AM-6:30PM   Weekends: 8AM-6:30PM

The Franklin Cider Mill is a go-to spot for cider and donuts. The best part (in my opinion) is their cider slushie- a must try! They have a fairly large stand outside, with seasonal produce, snacks, treats, etc. There is a stream on property, and the kids love to watch the ducks play in the water. Last time we visited there was live music. It is a simple way to spend an hour or so!

Yates Cider Mill

1990 E. Avon Road, Rochester Hills

248-651-8300

There is a variety of areas to enjoy- from the Cider Mill itself, to the Frankenmuth Fudge Shoppe (open September through November), to the Apple Tent (purchase apples, snacks, candy, and more!), to the Ice Cream Shoppe! In September and October, kids can join in on the Pony Rides ($5 each and 80lb weight limit), and the Petting Zoo ($1 for goat chow). End your visit with a stroll down the River Walk- 3/4 mile long trail, to view the pretty fall colors!

Wishing you the best fall!
