Meet Lauren, the amazing mom of two cuties, who is taking over Birmingham Bloomfield Hills Moms!
How many children do you have and what are their names and ages?
Ava is 6 and Louie is 4 1/2
Where do your children go to school?
Louie is currently at Westmaple Nursery School and Ava will be in first grade at Quarton Elementary School in the fall.
We are so happy you are taking over Birmingham Bloomfield Hills Moms! What are you looking forward to in this new position?
I always have a passion for ventures like this so I’m looking forward to something new. I think it will be great to connect and learn more about what the community has to offer and meeting new moms on the way. Tools like this are so important because as moms we juggle a lot.
Do you have another job as well?
I currently work as a consultant for Rodan + Fields (seeling skincare). I have such a passion for healthy (and young) skin that it was the right fit and something I could grow while raising kids. I also do some marketing work and recently started helping my husband with his new side venture in architecture/design. For some reason, I like to juggle a lot.
What made you decide to raise your family here?
We’ve been in Birmingham since 2007 and grew up not too far from here. I told my husband if I ever moved out of the Birmingham/Bloomfield area I would have to leave the state of Michigan. I absolutely love city life, so a downtown was a must. We also love good architecture and design. There is a lot of uniqueness to this area with homes which we love.
How did you and your husband meet?
We met one summer in our late college years. We kept running into each other in the most random places. We grew up in the same city but were never really friends, nor spoke. Here we are married 11 years later with two kids.
What’s your favorite family activity in Birmingham/Bloomfield Hills?
We love the Farmers Market and the Side Walk sale in July and in the winter, we are huge fans of the Winter Market, and visiting Santa and his reindeer.
Where are your favorite places to eat with your kids in town?
We love the happy hour at Market North, we play at Booth Park and then I take the kids there. We have also become fans of Side Car. We’ve discovered a mini arcade which the kids love, and dad too. The weekends are usually spent walking or riding bikes to Roast for our coffee fix.
What are your favorite kid classes/activities around town?
This last year activities have slowed down but Ava has been dancing, swimming, and doing soccer and Louie just started swimming and looking to get him signed up for some fall sports. It’s been such a crazy year that we are looking forward to a bit more normal with our activities.
What do you do to balance your own life and motherhood? What do you do for “me” time?
I need to be better at finding balance. I’ve always struggled with this and I know how important it is. I work out in the morning before the kids get up so that’s my consistent me time but I would say nights out with my girlfriends or evening wine walks is what I look forward to the most for “me” time.
What’s one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
If you know me really well you might not be surprised but I love to throw a party/entertain. I moved to Los Angeles after college to be an event planner, then ended up following my now husband back to MI so I get my fix for décor in having friends over but always making it fun whether it’s a margarita bar, having a sommelier for a wine tasting, or themed party for my kids.
Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?
My mom has been a saint. I’m incredibly lucky that she lives close by. I would also say my friends. We all have kids that are similar ages and it has made parenthood much easier (and more fun).
