How many children do you have and what are their names and ages?

I have 2 daughters, Londyn, age 7, Kinsley, age 2 and another little girl coming in the Fall!

Where do your kids go to school?

Londyn is going into 3rd grade at Pierce Elementary and Kinsley is currently at West Maple Nursery School.

You started an all women fitness studio, The Lean Body Studio. Tell us more about it and what moms can expect?

The Lean Body studio is a women-only HIIT studio that offers both classes, small groups and private training. We pride ourselves on our pre/postnatal program and all of our classes are modified for our mamas-to-be. Women can expect to be challenged and pushed past their comfort zone but in a fun way, surrounded by like-minded women looking to feel their best as well. Every class combines both strength and cardio, with different focuses each day. A class is never, EVER repeated so your body will always be challenged in a unique way! Escape into our dark, purposely curated environment, turn your brain off and move your body! You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish!

You have built an incredible community of women at your studio. Nothing like I have seen. What makes you the most proud of your fitness studio.

Thank you so much. That truly means a lot! My incredible community is by far the thing I am most proud of. When I started, I wanted to create a space where women felt supported, motivated, accepted and included. I wanted them to be able to leave their worries at the door and really give themselves an hour dedicated solely to feeling good in their skin. The friendships that have been built in this space over the years have been amazing to witness and I couldn’t be more grateful. I also can’t talk about pride without mentioning my team. They are some of the most dedicated, hard working women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and I couldn’t do what I do without their loyalty and support. I may be the heart of this business but they are the backbone and I appreciate them beyond words! Founded by passion, fueled by community…always!

Can you share a bit about your personal journey and what inspired you to start The Lean Body Studio?

How much time do you have? haha 🙂

My personal journey has a lot of peaks and valleys, I get emotional thinking about where I started to where I am now. To keep it short, because the long version would probably be best over a glass of wine, the concept of LBS began over 10 years ago in my basement. I wanted to create something that I myself was looking for and couldn’t find.I wanted to create something different than the traditional gym or studio. I had my degree in Nutrition, had worked in all sorts of fitness settings from New York to Las Vegas, and wanted to marry together all that I had learned from my vast experiences.

I was just as focused on the people as much as the workout and I thought that could really help me stand out. I started training 1:1 clients, then onto small groups and then had a very loyal 20- 25 clients who would show up almost daily to workout together in group classes. I knew I was onto something so I leaped into my first brick and mortar when my oldest daughter was just a few weeks old. Since then, I’ve been through a divorce, moved out of the first space, temporarily into 2 different spaces and finally landed where we are on Woodward! Overcoming the gut wrenching obstacles in my personal life and becoming a single mom while trying to build my business was nothing short of a miracle. I often say LBS saved me and I very much mean that in a lot of ways. I was bound and determined to show my daughter the meaning of resilience and teach her, by actions, that tough times don’t last but tough {mamas} always do! I got through those tough times because of her (plus a whole lot of faith) and my community that fiercely supported me. I really do believe it’s never what happens to you but how you respond that can change your life. If you know me personally, I approach every situation with an overwhelming amount of optimism and positivity because a negative mindset doesn’t seem to get anyone anywhere!

Those loyal 20-25 clients (most are still sweating with me consistently to this day!) have turned into over 2500 and years later, I met, fell in love and married one of those clients’ brother! Talk about a full circle moment! Everything really does work out in the end…. and if not, it’s not the end!

How do you engage with and support your local community through The Lean Body Studio

Alongside my fierce passion for helping other women feel confident at every stage, I love empowering other women entrepreneurs. I really enjoy networking with other business owners and am constantly trying to make connections and support other women trying to build their own community. I love learning from other women who have paved the way in this space and also growing alongside others like me. Entrepreneurship gets a bad rap for being lonely, but it doesn’t have to be! I don’t believe in competition, I’m here only for collaboration. Women can accomplish SO much together.

How do you balance running a business and being a mom? And now pregnant with your third. You do it all.

I’m on a never ending quest for balance! For me, it’s all about prioritizing my time and staying laser-focused on what’s really important to me. If I have to work a weekend, I make sure to spend extra one-on-one time with my kiddoes (mommy and me dates have been a huge hit) and my hubby and I always make time for date night. With two business owners in the house, we have to function as a true team and always put each other first, otherwise it’s easy to be passing ships! I never want to feel like life is just passing us by, especially with young kids, I want to actually LIVE and be present making memories. We try to focus on slowing down and spending quality time together as a family as much as we can.

Tells us a fun fact about you.

My fun fact has always been that I started in the fitness industry when I was 16! I got certified in Pilates and would train people out of my parents basement. The fitness entrepreneur bug certainly started early for me and now 22 years later, I still couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

Any exciting travel plans for the summer?

We’re on the countdown to baby this Summer so we aren’t going too far! We have a lake house on the West side of the state so you can find us there most weekends in the Summer. It’s our little slice of heaven that we cherish so much!
