Bloomfield Center for Psychology & Wellness Founder: Lora Imsaiah, M.A. LLP

Meet Lora, a dedicated psychologist with a passion for supporting the well-being of individuals of all ages.

Her journey began with a love for working with children, and over the years, she has had the privilege of supporting many on their paths to well-being. With experience as a substitute teacher in Autism Spectrum Disorder and special needs classrooms, a nanny during undergrad, and now a psychologist in private practice and with non-profit organizations, she has always been deeply committed to helping individuals of all ages.

Lora brings her incredible passion and dedication to the Bloomfield Center for Psychology & Wellness, offering accessible and comprehensive psychological support tailored to each individual’s needs. She also serves as the sole psychologist for the Judson Center’s Diagnostic Clinic and Autism Connections program. Balancing her private practice with her work in non-profit organizations is challenging, but deeply fulfilling, as giving back to the community and making a difference in the lives of those in need is central to her mission.

About Bloomfield Center for Psychology & Wellness

Bloomfield Center is a comprehensive psychological practice dedicated to providing high-quality mental health services for individuals of all ages, from infants and toddlers to teens, adolescents, adults, and families, as well as schools and businesses. Their integrative and holistic approach addresses every aspect of well-being, incorporating individual, family, and talk therapy, psychiatry/medication management, art therapy, clinical yoga therapy, neuropsychological testing, psychological assessments, specialized support groups, wellness events, and more. We offer a variety of services in-office, in-home, and via telehealth, ensuring our support is accessible to everyone.

Unique Services for Children

Her services are unique. She’s proud to offer specialized services that are available for adults, but here, they tailor them specifically to children: from ADHD and ASD evaluations to evidence-based treatments for children’s phobias and anxiety used by the Mayo Clinic, as well as art therapy and wellness events.

ADHD Clinic

Their ADHD clinic focuses on developing strategies to help children manage their symptoms effectively. They conduct evaluations to get an accurate idea of your child’s processing and learning style. They then collaborate closely with schools to create a cohesive support system, enabling children to thrive both academically and personally.  Children with ADHD often face challenges beyond attention and impulse control issues; they may experience low self-esteem due to the perception that they are “bad” or unable to learn like their peers. Their tailored interventions focus on improving attention, impulse control, and executive functioning, fostering a positive self-image and teaching coping strategies that empower children to succeed, and they involve parents and educators to create a support system that builds children’s confidence and self-worth by helping them understand their unique learning styles and strengths, countering negative self-perceptions.

Autism Diagnostic Method

Their Autism diagnostic method sets them apart with their streamlined, multidisciplinary approach: a comprehensive, one-day evaluation with a team of specialists who work collaboratively to assess your child, and ensure an efficient and thorough assessment process, followed by a feedback session soon after, ensuring timely and thorough results. Unlike many providers that rely on a single clinician for the entire process, their team offers a distinctive, multi-disciplinary approach. Their dedicated team includes a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), essential for creating tailored, evidence-based behavior intervention plans, as well as a psychologist, a psychiatric provider, and a Speech-Language Pathologist to address communication challenges commonly associated with ASD. Together, they provide a holistic understanding of each child’s needs.

For anxiety and phobias, they use the proven approach developed by Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Whiteside. This evidence-based method incorporates exposure therapy, which involves gradually and systematically exposing clients to their fears in a safe environment. This technique helps clients confront their anxieties, reduce avoidance behaviors, and significantly improve their quality of life by increasing their confidence in handling anxiety-provoking situations.

Something that is very important to Lara is supporting children through more than just cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which, while effective, sometimes requires a longer attention span than kids have. This is where art therapy comes in—a creative and therapeutic approach that allows children of all need levels to express their feelings and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. This modality is especially effective for young clients who may find it hard to articulate their emotions verbally and is inclusive of those who are deaf, nonverbal, or Autistic. She recently hosted a Wellness Event for her friends and family, with their art therapist guiding them, and had her 10-year-old niece in attendance. All ages had such positive feedback about the experience. It truly excited them for the wellness events we have planned soon.
